As of December 10, 2021, all participants in Pacific Safety Center Ltd regularly scheduled (open enrollment) courses and special events will be required to show proof of vaccination along with government photo ID to attend. People under 18 are exempt from showing ID but must show proof of vaccination. Proof of a negative COVID-19 test will not be accepted. Safety protocols such as a mandatory mask policy, minimized social contact, reduced seating capacity remain in effect.
Today, September 7, 2021 BC’s Public Health Officer, Dr. Bonnie Henry released more detailed information on the Proof Vaccination Requirements that are effective Sept 13, 2021. As you may know, under the Proof of Vaccination Public Health Order, all Pacific Safety Center Ltd in-person training courses fall under the category of “workshops”. The new Public Health Order specifies that only “organized indoor events with 50 or more people (e.g., wedding receptions, organized parties, conferences, workshops)” will be required to provide proof of Covid-19 vaccination to allow entry or attendance. As all in-person training courses being offered by the Pacific Safety Center have a maximum of 9 to 24 people (maximum attendance varies by course and size of venue) proof vaccination will not be required to attend any courses currently offered by the Pacific Safety Center Ltd.
In keeping with the new BC Public Health Orders, as of August 24, 2021 face masks are now mandatory in our in-person open enrollment training courses. In addition to the provincial face mask requirements, our open enrollment courses continue to limit class size to 50% of normal, have individual desks or tables with hand sanitizer for each participant, have HEPA air purifiers in room, regularly clean and disinfect high touch areas and follow other Covid-19 prevention best practices.
As of this morning, Tuesday August 24, 2021 Dr. Bonnie Henry, Public Health Officer for BC, has reintroduced mandatory mask policies for all public indoor places effective tomorrow, Wednesday August 24, 2021. While the actual detailed Public Health Order has yet to be published we anticipate that this will require that masks be worn on all Pacific Safety Center Ltd in-person open enrollment courses. We will be updating our course policies and rules to reflect both the new Public Health Order (PHO) and industry best practices as soon as the PHO is released.
We will be temporarily closing our offices from August 16 to 31, 2021, reopening on September 1, 2021. This allows us to minimize vacation and holiday induced staffing shortages and disruptions and maximize our staff availability the rest of the year.
If you call us during this period, you will get our voice mail and are welcome to leave a message. Please note it will take a few days for us to respond during this period. The best way to contact us is by email. We will be monitoring email more closely and should be able to get back to you sooner than via phone.
In keeping with the new BC Public Health Orders, as of July 1/21 face masks are no longer mandatory in our training courses. If you are fully vaccinated then masks are optional, if you are not, then masks are strongly recommended and appreciated. You may see our trainers or other participants continuing to wear face masks regardless of their vaccination status, depending on their personal choice. We want everyone to feel comfortable with their decision to either wear or not wear a mask on our courses. Regardless of whether you choose, we ask you respect other’s choices and the decisions they make for their own and the health of others. Please keep in mind we are all at different levels of comfort with the new situation and need to do what feels best to each of us to support the health of ourselves and others around us. To aid you in your decision on whether to wear a facemask at one of our open enrollment courses we want to let you know that all our open enrollment courses continue to limit class size to 50% of normal, have individual desks or tables with hand sanitizer for each participant, regularly clean and disinfect high touch areas and follow other Covid-19 prevention best practices
We are pleased to be able to offer instructor led zoom training for Joint Health and Safety Committees that will satisfy mandatory WorkSafeBC training requirement.
Just some of the comments from our Zoom Safety Committee Training Courses:
– “I don’t see any way the training could have been better”
– “I only have good things to say as the course was very well planned and put together without the feel of a lecture.
– “The instructor did a phenomenal job with the flow and content of his presentation.”
