and sense of well being? This is
the session for you! Guaranteed

workout and offer practical
learning at the same time. Learn
the medically proven connection between stress and ‘dis-ease’. Find out how camaraderie can affect the bottom
line. Share the healing power of humour.
Be inspired to weave humour, relaxation and
playfulness into everyday life to increase your well
being and the well being of those around you.
Speaker: Carol Boothroyd, Burnaby BC
Session 2A
Job Safety Observations (JSO’s)
JSO’s have become one of the key tools in a safety
program. Often done by either safety committees
or supervisors, they form part of an effective Due
Diligence/safety system. This session will explain how
to use formal job safety observations to review procedures,
observe safe work performances and document
the process from start to finish.
Speaker: Jim Moroney, CRSP
Session 2B
Musculoskeletal Injuries: The Most Common
(and Challenging) Problem for Safety
The most common type of injury is a MSI
(Musculoskeletal Injury), making up approximately
one-third of all incidents. This session explores the
answers to some common questions: What are the
risk factors? How does the body work? What is
repetition? How can I properly investigate an MSI?
How can I prevent a MSI?
Speaker: Isabel Krueger, CRSP, Safety Matters
Session 2C
Risk Communications
You’ve discovered a hazard that needs to be discussed
with someone– what’s the best way to discuss it? How
do you avoid making the situation worse, and instead
have the highest possibility of successfully addressing
and resolving the situation? This session will answer
these questions and provide methods of helping people
understand risk and develop systems and behaviours
that minimize exposure to the hazards.
Speaker: Terry Duncan
Session 3A
Workplace Safety Inspections: Secrets to
Doing Them Right – Every Time!
Are you happy with how your safety inspections run?
Do they achieve the results you want and need?
Looking for tips on how to make them better?
This session is for you! A great session for safety
committees, supervisors or anyone responsible for
performing safety inspections.
Speaker: Terry Duncan
Session 3B
Slips, Trips & Falls: The 2nd Most Common
Cause of Workplace Injuries
Slips, trips and falls are the second most common
reason for worker injuries. Find out why these
incidents occur, discover the underlying causes that
get often get missed during the investigation process,
and hear about preventative measures to stop them.
Speaker: Isabel Krueger, CRSP, Safety Matters
Session 3C
Violence Prevention Programs:
Do You Need Them in Your Organization?
Fast becoming one of the highest profile and most
important components in any organization's safety
program, Violence Prevention Programs extend
beyond just those organizations who deal with the
public, and now include worker to worker, supplier
to worker, in short, anywhere people interact.
Speaker: Jim Moroney, CRSP
Closing Keynote Presentation
Dr. Art Hister
Dr. Art Hister is a daily health
analyst on Global TV, as well as
the author of two best-sellers:
Midlife Man and A Guide to a
Longer and Healthier Life. Using
humour to discuss and debate
the evidence that healthy lifestyle
adjustments improve all measures of health, he will
address issues around lowering the risk of life-limiting
chronic illness and premature death, and lowering —
perhaps even reversing — our inevitable aging.
Speaker: Dr. Art Hister
